After hosting popular pop-ups around town for several months, Greenville native Anneclaire Nelson has opened her ACE (short for Anneclaire Experience) fitness studio on Meeting Street. There, Nelson offers high-energy, dance-inspired workouts that blend light weight training, cardio, and floor combinations that are designed to strengthen the core and improve flexibility. The heated studio features a sprung floor. Before returning to South Carolina in 2022, the dancer and choreographer worked for celebrity fitness trainer Tracy Anderson in New York and Miami and as Jennifer Lopez’s personal trainer during the star’s Vegas residency. Cozy up with a good read and a glass of vino at new bookstore/bar Philosophers & Fools opened by Jenny Ferrara and Michael Bourke in Cannonborough-Elliotborough. Patrons will find the latest releases, as well romance, science fiction, thrillers, and young adult and children’s books, which they are invited to purchase and peruse while enjoying a glass of wine, craft beer, coffee, or tea, and snacking on warm sandwiches, popcorn, chips, and baked goods from Sugar Bakeshop. Prefer nonfiction? The shop stocks histories, biographies, science, and cookbooks. “Reading with a beverage is what we often did in our free time, and we thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if Charleston had a place like this where people could gather?‘ So we decided to make it happen ourselves,” says Ferrara, a former marketing director. Founded in Venice Beach, California, Buck Mason has brought its brand of West Coast-inspired American classics to King Street. Think high-quality, figure-flattering T-shirts, Oxford shirts, cotton sweaters, elevated sweats, and denim in muted shades for men and women.
